How to: Redbubble
--
I started uploading my designs onto Redbubble about 2 years ago and this is what I have learned. I started at the beginning of the pandemic and now I have almost 600 sticker designs, and I think ive learned a little about how the platform works.
Set Up Your Profile ENTIRELY
Before you set up shop on RedBubble, make sure to complete every aspect of your profile. Add a profile picture, background photo, about you section, payment information, and add all of your social medias! These tools show Redbubble that you are setting up shop and it shows future customers who you are.
Create a Schedule
Now that you have started creating your shop and you have designs ready, make sure to not post them all at once. In your first set of uploads, upload a couple designs and then make a schedule (weekly, biweekly, etc.) to show RedBubble that you are a consistent artists. Like social media platforms, such as YouTube and Instagram, consistency shows the algorithm to push your designs and your posts to more and more people.
Use your 30 tags
With every design, you are allowed to use up to 30 tags related to your design. Tags should be a mix of niche tags and popular more broad tags. For my university collection, I use general hashtags like “universities”, “frosh week”, and “Ontario students”, but then for each specific school, I use tags with the schools mascot, name of the school, and references that are specific to the students at each university. On top of those tags I add 3 tags with my name and my store name so that people who follow me on Instagram can find my designs easily.
Put Your Designs on Every Product, BUT ONLY if it makes sense.
When I first started on RedBubble, I was told to put my designs on every product RedBubble offers, but really all that did was harm my store. I found that even if people were looking at my store, my designs did not always look good on every product which made people turn away from some of my designs. So what I am suggesting, is create your designs the way you want to make them, and put them on a mug, a blanket, a sticker, or whatever product you are aiming for, and then see if it works with the other products on the site.
